A landscape provides so much scope for the imagination. Looking into a landscape is very much like looking through the window onto a new horizon. You can bring, to your home, surroundings and views from anywhere in the world. Whether you love paintings of a beach, a mountain range or the farmland along the rolling British countryside in and around Preston, you can bring it into your home to have all the enjoyment the scene provides. You may reminisce over past experiences in such surroundings, or you may find a way to imagine yourself there, perhaps lying in the fields feeling and hearing the breeze run through the grass harvest. Paintings of streams, paintings of bird life and paintings of animals on summer pastures can allow you to bring an element of the outdoors, indoors.
Geoff Rollinson is a painter and artist based in Preston, who paints a vivid picture of his love of the countryside. His own affinity with his subject matter stems from his time as a gamekeeper and working along with nature during the changing seasons, and times of day. Seeing how man and beast work hand in hand with what the land provides and demands from its owners and workers, Geoff has captured it in his paintings for all to see, own and admire.
Paintings of horses ploughing the land, dogs working with their gamekeeper masters, the light at dusk on the grasslands and the River Ribble that runs through Preston, and the birds that swoop through a valley at dawn, each provide us with a vivid impression of life in the countryside.
Adding extra dimension to your home, a landscape expands upon your surroundings, adds extra life and detail to your interior, and provides light and colour to your home. Of course, these paintings can be owned as either an original or as a print, and even as a greetings card should you wish to share these delightful paintings with others.
The Inn at Whitewell on the R Hodder, (Bridge Pool), is one painting of which its creator is particularly proud. This was one of his commissioned landscape paintings that he was asked to produce keeping in mind who it was for. During a visit in 2012 to Burnley University, this Preston artist was pleased to be commissioned to present Queen Elizabeth with a one of his landscape paintings. Geoff Rollinson put a lot of thought into this landscape, as he does all of his commissioned paintings, and it depicts a piece of land that belongs to the crown. This beautiful piece of original work is now owned by the Queen. However, this landscape as well as many others of Geoff’s commissioned paintings, can be owned and framed in print.
The details that are added in these landscape paintings are what make the art truly remarkable. With kingfishers swooping over bodies of water, foxes slithering over meadow lanes, and herons standing proud and tall along river banks, ever watchful for its next meal.
