As an experienced and established artist based in Lancashire, W Geoff Rollinson has been featured in a range of art galleries, has risen to national prominence through competitions, and now offers an extensive selection of countryside paintings in Preston. We loved for depicting both the sweeping vistas and the intimate moments of wildlife throughout the country, the website features a variety of both originals and prints on sale, as well as the opportunity to commission your own original piece.
Geoff has built a long and fruitful career as an artist practically on his own, given that he’s completely self-taught. A native of Lancashire, his love of nature began early, and he has spent most of his life close to the wild and rural landscapes, initially working as a gamekeeper. This experience had a profound effect on his artwork, much of which is seen today in his countryside paintings of Preston.
From hills to rivers, birds to mammals, livestock to the shifting of the seasons, Geoff has painted a huge variety of scenes depicting the best of British nature. Most of his paintings are in oil paints, though he has also used gouache and acrylic paints for many of his pieces. As such, he has created a gallery of truly varied pieces that have featured in exhibitions throughout Preston and Lancashire, and much further afield.
Geoff’s love of nature shows not only in the subject matter of most of his art but also in how he has worked as an artist to help preserve that nature. For instance, Geoff has worked with animal conservation groups such as the World Wildlife Fund for Nature and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, as well as commissioning two sets of Royal Doulton plates for the Bradford Exchange, which then went on to sell throughout the world. Regularly, Geoff has had his artwork featured in postcards, calendars, and greeting cards, the proceeds of which have gone directly to help with wildlife conservation.
Geoff also rose to national prominence in 2004 when he was selected as one of the fifty finalists in a competition sponsored by the Daily Mail. His painting, depicting a peregrine falcon resting in a dead elm tree, was selected amongst 10,000 entries in the Not the Turner Prize Exhibition. Of those 10,000, his was amongst the 200 that we shown at the Mall Gallery in London, and was highly commended as one of the finalists. For his placement, he won the opportunity to have his own website designed, but this site was already in creation at the time.
Now, Geoff’s extensive collection of countryside paintings in Preston are available for all the world to see, with deliveries that are available to customers all across the UK. Whether you’re looking to buy a print, one of the originals that haven’t yet been scooped up or want to commission your own piece, you are welcome to browse the collection on the site and to get in touch.
